Banned Substances & Drug Testing

Drug Testing is a Top Priority With the INBF/WNBF.

The backbone of the INBF/WNBF reputation is the strict adherence to stringent drug testing.  We place the highest importance on ensuring that athletes are drug-free, so as to ensure fair competition at each and every event World Wide.

Please read all supplement ingredients carefully!  Athletes are responsible to be vigilant about their supplement use.

The Use of Drugs is Strictly Prohibited.

All INBF/WNBF athletes must be ten (10) years drug-free of prescription/pharmaceutical hormones on the banned substance list and two (2) years free of over-the-counter hormones, pro-hormones or banned substances listed or their chemical counterparts unless otherwise noted, prior to their first INBF/WNBF competition.

PLEASE NOTE: The following substances and related compounds are banned by the WNBF and INBF, and their use constitutes grounds for dismissal from WNBF and/or INBF competitions and suspension from membership privileges in the organization for a period of ten (10) years from the failure date.

ANABOLIC AGENTS, HORMONAL PRECURSORS and METABOLITES (including, but not limited to) – 1-Androstendiol/1-Androstendione/1-Testosterone, 4-Hydroxytestosterone (Formestane), 6a-Methylandrostendione, Androstenediol/Androstenedione, Bolasterone, Boldenone, Calusterone, Clenbuterol, Clostebol, Danazol, Desoxymethyltestosterone (DMT), Dhydrochloromethyltestosterone (DHCMT)/CHIOROMESTERONE, Drostanolone, Estra-4,9-diene-3,17-dione, Fluoxymesterone, Formebolone, Furazabol, Halodrol, Mestanolone, Mesterolone, Methandrostenolone/Methandienone, Methandriol, Methasterone, Methenolone, Methyl-1-testosterone, Methyltestosterone, Mibolerone, Nandrolone/19-Norandrostendione/19-Norandrostendiol, Norclostebol, Norethandrolone, Oxabolone, Oxandrolone, Oxymesterone, Oxymetholone, Prostanozol, Stanozolol, Stenbolone, Testolactone, Trenbolone, T3 (Liothyronine sodium, Cytomel. T4 (Levothyroxine, Synthroid).

Clomid/Clomiphene (Not allowed for use by men as a form of testosterone therapy, or to simply increase testosterone production even when physician prescribed and monitored).

TESTOSTERONE – in any form (injections/patches/gels/pellets) for any reason, even if prescribed.

TESTOSTERONE/EPITESTOSTERONE (T/E) RATIO – A testosterone to epitestosterone (T/E) ratio of 6/1 or greater is considered a positive detection of exogenous testosterone (or testosterone precursor) use.

GROWTH HORMONES – Pharmaceutical Human Growth Hormone (HGH), Human Chorionic Gonadotropin (HCG), Gamma hydroxybutyrate (GHB), Somatropin

CLENBUTEROL – Prescribed and non prescribed clenbuterol usage will carry a two (2) Year ban time Frame for NEW athletes wanting to join the INBF/WNBF.

Spironet, Dilaterol, Ventipulmin

PRESCRIPTION THYROID HORMONE MEDICATION – when used for bodybuilding purposes is banned!

PROHORMONES, PROSTEROIDS, PRECURSORS, METABOLITES, DERIVATIVES AND RELATED COMPOUNDS (including but not limited to) –insulin-like growth factor 1 (IGF-1, oral spray or sublingual GH compounds of pharmaceutical (recombinant DNA technology) origin, 6OXO; 6OXOandrostenetrione; 2a, 17adimethyl17ß-hydroxy5aandrostan3one; 3, 17ketoetiocholtriene; 1,4,6androstatriene3, 17dione; 3Alpha (5aandrostane-3a, 17bdiol). Any athlete who is NEW to the federation must have not used any prohormones for at least two (2) years before joining the INBF/WNBF for the first time.

All hormonal precursors and their metabolites and isomers

DHEA (through to 2019) – There shall be a (3) month amnesty for NEW athletes wanting to join the INBF/WNBF.  Any person supplementing with DHEA and/or it’s metabolites (listed below) are ineligible for 3 months prior to competing with the INBF/WNBF.

7 Keto DHEA Through 2019 There shall be a (3) month amnesty period for NEW athletes wanting to join the INBF/WNBF. Any person supplementing with 7 Keto DHEA and/or it’s metabolites (listed below) are ineligible for 3 months prior to competing with the INBF/WNBF.

7-ketodehydroepiandrosterone, 7-oxodehydroepiandrosterone, -hydroxy-DHEA, -hydroxy-DHEA

PRESCRIPTION DIURETICS – Acetazolamide, Amiloride, Bendroflumethiazide, Bumetanide, Canrenone, Chlorothiazide, Chlorthalidone, Clopamide, Cyclothiazide, Dichlorphenamide, Ethacrynic Acid, Furosemide, Hydrochlorothiazide, Hydroflumethiazide, Spironolactone, Triamterene. Prescription diuretics, even when physician prescribed cannot be used for 3 months prior to competitions.

** If an athlete possesses heart related complications a TUE can be issued for competition.

** Spironolactone that is prescribed for acne MAY NOT be used for 14 days prior to competing in any INBF/WNBF Event, No Exceptions!

EPHEDRA/EPHEDRINE & STIMULANTS – Ephedrine and Ephedra may not have been used for 3 months before joining the INBF/WNBF for the first time

** Due to the abundance of supplements and pre-workout products containing DMAA and/or related compounds, there shall be a 30 day amnesty period before an athlete is eligible to compete in any INBF/WNBF event.

PSYCHOMOTOR STIMULANTS (included but not limited to) amphetamines, methamphetamines (speed), cocaine, Modafinil, Ephedra/Ephedrine/Ma-Huang, DMAA (Methylhexanamine, 1,3-dimethylamylamine, geranium), and fat burning prohormone derivatives such as 3, 17dihydroxydelta5etiocholane7one (A7D), and 3, 17-dihydroxydelta5etiocholane7one, diethyl carbonate (A7E).

MUSCLE IMPLANTS of any kind are strictly prohibited

MASKING AGENTS (chemicals/drugs for the purpose of deceiving or passing the polygraph or urine test) such as Epitestosterone or Probenecid

CANNABINOIDS & CBD’s – Prohibited for use the day of any INBF/WNBF polygraph examination.

At this time the INBF/WNBF has not moved toward banning cannabis and/or CBD’s in season.

Use of the following substances is Disallowed after July 1st, 2016

  • SARMs (selective androgen receptor modulators) (e.g. andarine, ostarine, tibolone, zeranol)
  • SERMs (selective estrogen receptor modulators) (e.g. raloxifene, tamoxifen, toremifene)
  • 5-AT (5-Etioallocholen-3b,7b,17b-triol)

The presence of any banned substance in the urine, regardless of the cause, is ruled as positive and considered a failure.
