CLASS ENTRY & CROSSOVERS
For WNBF Pro Qualifying events, athletes may enter Open OR Novice, NOT BOTH. Crossovers may occur between an age division and Open or Novice, or between categories such as Figure & Fit Body, or Men’s Physique and Bodybuilding.
The WNBF does not allow this because the divisions are a totally different mind set. Novice athletes should have a goal to gain competition experience, and do the best they can. By not allowing Open competitors to cross back into Novice, this gives people the best chance to compete with other beginners. It makes for a fair playing field for real Novice competitors. Open class competitors should have competed before, and are working towards winning Pro status.
Novice competitors are either first time competitors, someone who has competed and has not placed, or has not placed top three in an Open class. If you win a Novice class, you are then required to compete in an Open division.
We allow competitors between the ages of 16 and 18 to compete with parental consent. These athletes will have to go in the novice class if the class is offered but if class has no novice division they can compete in open.
To compete in any WNBF event, an athlete must have a current WNBF Canada membership. Memberships are active for 1 year. You may compete in any WNBF event during this timeframe. With your WNBF Canada membership, you are eligible to compete with any WNBF affiliate worldwide.
International athletes are welcome to compete with WNBF Canada. If a WNBF affiliate has been established in your country you must purchase that organization’s membership card, and then you can register for a WNBF Canada competition. To submit a question or assistance with registering, please email charlotte@wnbfcanada.ca.
Drug Testing
Yes, we require all competitors to take and pass an intense polygraph. This test is good for 6 weeks for amateurs and 2 weeks for pros. If you are entering another WNBF event please let the show promoter know you have been tested and they will confirm this with a WNBF official.
No, we require all competitors to test directly with us. Our banned substance list is more stringent than other organizations, and we have very high standards for our licensed polygraph professionals.
The polygraph examination itself is not a long process, usually completed on Thursday & Friday prior to a Saturday competition. The pre-screening, completing the athlete questionnaire, and multiple pre-interviews do take significantly more time. All of this information is necessary for us to gather in order to make our polygraph process more valid. You should plan to arrive at least 30 minutes before your scheduled appointment time to fill out paperwork. Some examiners will require you to submit pre-screening paperwork in advance. A valid ID, driver’s license, or passport also needs to be provided to the polygraph examiner.
If you are a Professional member, we can and will ask competitors to submit a urine specimen unannounced. If you are at a show, all prize money winners and also pro card winners are required to urine test immediately after leaving the stage from awards. All competitors are required to test in a posing suit and will not be allowed to bring anything into the testing area.
Please read the banned substance list thoroughly prior to submitting a supplement, or prescription medication question by clicking the envelope below
* An athlete who has failed a polygraph or urinalysis test with any federation must divulge this information prior to registering with the WNBF. Such a failure that regards any WNBF banned substance will result in a 10 year suspension.
